Hi guys,

How often does Sihanoukville get blackouts in a week? what specific time do they usually occur? For how long do they usually lasts? Are blackouts more frequent in March, April, etc?

We plan to rent an apartment in the downtown area. Are blackouts less frequent there?

How is opennet in Sihanoukville? are there outages, how's the speed/consistency in accessing international sites, etc? We plan to sign up to their 8mbps adsl package. Can opennet be installed in any apartment in the downtown area or are some apartments tied to a certain provider?

Thanks in advance.

Get fibre not ADSL. No copper to steal and no weather problems. Depends on which electrical feed you are on as to the length and number of outages. Buy a gennie if it's important

4 hours is a bit much. I was hoping it would be around an hour. Yikes.

Yes I work online and I dont really need very fast connection but I cant really work with 4 hour power cuts.

Thanks...

Blackouts happen at any time and with varying frequency. As such, we always rent an apartment with a backup generator and we have the Opennet 10mbps fibre plan on top of the (in most cases) existing, provided wifi. It certainly helps when/if Opennet are having service issues, but generally they have been very good on all accounts.

Most apartment complexes will let you install your own internet service, especially if you make it a condition prior to rental.

Cheers
