Construction of Phnom Penh's Mega Underground Carpark and Commercial Centre Kicked-off

Phnom Penh has kick-started the construction of its first underground carpark and commercial centre in Khan Daun Penh.
Governor of Phnom Penh H.E. Khuong Sreng on July 3 presided over the official ground-breaking of the facility of 33,120 square metres, invested by a local firm EDISIJUTA (Cambodia) Pte. Ltd.
According to Ms. Oknha Chan Sothea, Director General of EDISIJUTA (Cambodia) Pte. Ltd., two storeys of the facility will be dedicated for parking lots that can accommodate 516 cars.
Another two storeys will be used for commercial centre comprising shopping malls, resorts and other luxury services.
H.E. Khuong Sreng noted that Khan Daun Penh has now become a busy intersection and a large commercial residential area.
The investment proves as an essential contribution of the private sector to not only further modernise Phnom Penh's lifestyle, but also address the emerging carparking issue in the fast-growing capital of Cambodia, he added.

Why don't they build a few more so that the sidewalks are actually walkable. Government can build them and finance it by writing out parking fines. Keeps the cops busy as well.

I like the idea, but to get walkable sidewalks you also have to deal with erratic moto parking and sidewalk vendors who occupy the entire width of the pavement. if only!

Ground-breaking ceremony for underground car park, retail and FNB in Wat Phnom
Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, on the Monday morning, presided over ground breaking ceremony for the construction and development of an underground a car park, shopping mall, restaurant and other services in a public park near the old market in Wat Phnom, Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.
On the occasion, Sreng said that the parking lot, supermarket, restaurant and other services will be built by EDCPO (Cambodia), a local company. The company has made a significant investment for the development of this mixed-use commercial project in Daun Penh district.
