According to the Cambodian Single Window Rice Export Service reports, Cambodian rice exports have reached 492115 tonnes since this year October in comparison to 2016 Oct 421521 tonnes which is an increase of 16.7%.

The report says that China is the Cambodia's largest export market for rice. In preceding 10 months Cambodia has exported 142768 tonnes of rice to China, an increase of 59%. The second largest importer of Cambodian rice is France with imports of over 60000 tonnes of rice. Another major market is Poland which imported 40000 tonnes of Cambodian rice.
Cambodian rice has been hailed to be one of the world's best rice grain after Thailand while the hird runner up is Vietnamese rice grains. Between 2012 and 2014, Cambodia was the winner of the World's Best Rice Grain Competition consecutively.
It is worth noting that Cambodian rice has been exported over 540,000 tonnes of rice to over 65 countries last year.

Rice exports rise in 2017

- Cambodian rice exports in 2017 increased by 17.3 percent compared with 2016, according to a report from the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the total amount of formal Cambodian rice exports increased to about 635,679 metric tonnes, an increase of 17.3 percent in 2017 from 542,144 in 2016.

Srey Vuthy, the director of the department of planning and statistics at the Ministry of Agriculture, told Khmer Times on Monday that rice exports from Cambodia improved in 2017 compared with the previous years. He said Cambodia had a surplus of about five million tonnes of paddy per year.

He added that among the five million tonnes of surplus, some of it went to neighbouring countries as Cambodia does not have enough warehouses and processing facilities and the lack of logistic facilities to absorb paddy from farmers. He said that last year Cambodia produced about 10 million tonnes of paddy across the country.

“When our rice storage and processing facilities are completed we hope that we can increase exports as we can purchase the paddy to store in the warehouse and process it,” Mr Vuthy said. “The export growth we could see from that 15 percent per year.”

Song Saran, the CEO of Amru Rice, told Khmer Times that in 2017 the big market for Cambodian rice was China, while the European market is stable.

Cambodia Exports Over 270,000 Tons of Rice in the First Semester of 2018

Phnom Penh (FN), July 10 - Report on Cambodian rice exports in the first semester 2018 released on Tuesday indicated that Cambodia exported more than 270,000 tons of rice to 70 countries, a decrease of 5.9% compared to the same period in 2017, which was 288,562 tons.

Over the past six months, China, the biggest in Cambodian rice importer, imported 60,000 tons of Cambodian rice, followed by France more than 40,000 tons and Malaysia 20,000 tons.

In the whole 2017, Cambodia exported 630,000 tons of rice, while the Royal Government plans to increase rice exports to one million tons per year.
