Intoxica bar street 130

Hello everyone,
I’m new on here,I was told this place is the best place to comment about my experience in Cambodia.
February 2023,
So I visited some riverside bars and came across intoxica bar on street 130.
What attracted me to the bar was of course the beautiful girls sitting outside waving over to go in.
I was with 2 other male friends.
We decided to go in,inside was so busy and dark we decided to sit on a table outside.
3 girls came and sat with us and we began to chat and all drink together.
The evening was going really well so we stayed for a few hours and got some food delivered to us from a place across the street.
I asked for the bill,it came to $67 for my drinks and the girl and food.
Thought that was reasonable.
I gave them a $100 dollar bill she went into the bar to pay then came back to the table to say it’s fake!
She showed me it had copy at the bottom.
I would of noticed that when I exchanged it.
I freaked out but luckily I had extra money to pay.
I left the bar and was really pissed off and went back to my hotel.
Next day I was thinking over it.
I thought I only changed the money that day and got $300
I checked it all,
So I thought it must of been a scam at the bar
(Of course I wasn’t thinking straight as I’d had a lot to drink)
She didn’t check the note infront of me went into the bar then came out.
I looked at reviews on that place.
I saw it happened to someone else.
And other bad things happen there.
So I decided to go back to the bar and talk with the owner.
I had proof of my time there as I did some pictures and videos.
If it was my business I would want customer feed back,
And put things right if a customer wasn’t happy.
I asked if I could look at the cctv around 00.30
What a surprise the owner said it’s not working
She really didn’t seem bothered so I think it’s my duty to share this experience so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
Please avoid this bar and watch out at other bars around riverside.
Check the notes with the person taking your money maybe even show them you take a photo of the note before they go to the cashier so you have the serial number so it can’t be exchanged for a fake one.

Yeah, a lot of the skanky whore bars are managed and ran by skanky whores. So this kind of skanky behavior is not uncommon

Just mention the last three numbers of the bill when you hand it over.
Don't assume it's just this bar pulling that trick.

It's the fact you didn't feel shame when sitting outside a girly bar. I'm sure you learned your lesson, before handing over any large bill at a money changer I have a picture of the serial number, do the same for the girly bars and it won't be able to happen again.
Don't feel pissed it happen, it's a learning experience.

You would just assume that is was real. The man already said he didn't check it. He said I would have noticed. How would u notice if you don't check.
It is common sense, and easily avoided if you do your own checks. And if you want to avoid any thing like this to happen. Just look at the notes you pass other 1st or as all people will tell you and read the last few numbers after all there all different....
Or just exchange you $ anywhere for riel and then even less issues...
Simples.

Don't go there everyone he had a horrible time...
This would probly be like, no such thing as bad publicity. I would read it as you had a great night,. But you fucked up with the payment situation. Rightly or wrongly blaming the bar. To which you said your self you can't be so sure, as you didn't check.
The first few 100 notes I got I never checked until paying for some thing luckily no issues but I never checked when I received them from the ATM or the shop.
But after a few times I just exchanged straight in riel... It's just easier all round.
Also I did bring some $100 notes with me. But 1 of them was folded in my pocket for a long journey and it tore a little on the fold, which I knew... So for now I'm stuck with it Ganna give it to the casino when I get round to it or take it home

I can assure you that when they take the $100 from the table they check it right away, and those thick fake $100 would get laughed at. It sounds like you were a victim of the switcheroo.
Whenever you pay with a $100 bill, make a note of the last 3 digits of the serial number and point it out to the waitress. They know what that means. For super safety, write it on the bill and show them, especially in hostess bars.
I suspect you told them you are new in town, and they fleeced you.

It's hard being a naive sexpat.
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get the hang of how it works soon.
Maybe after you learn to use the return key a little less frequently.
It must be embarrassing too.
I mean.
I know this is an anonymous forum but still, the 2 guys you were with are witnesses to your embarrassment.
I hope they don't spill the beans to your friends back home.

What a dumb reply to a perfectly reasonable warning for other newbies in town. The OP should be commended for sharing his experience, your inane put -down on the other hand is embarrassing, Mister Know It All.
