New night spot on Riverside called Orphic

Saw this place from across the road on Riverside the other day. A few doors down from the Eric Kayser bakery. Been open a few weeks according to their Facebook.

Their logo is: 'It happened at Orphic'

Any reports? Is it a khmer or barang run place?

We went there for their opening and it was great.

The female owner is Khmer or Chinese - not sure how many other owners there are.

However, they ran an event a few weeks ago called "Sassy Saturdays", so we popped into enquire what would be happening. The Khmer Manager told us that happy hour was extended for this event. Unfortunately, the Khmer/Chinese Owner said "That wasn't so, but if the Manager said that then we'll take the cost out of his salary " - not very friendly considering there was no one in the place.

Anyway, after that snipe we walked out and went to a cute new wine bar in Bassac Lane.

Will have to check it out with Mrs Cargo at some stage.

One issue they have tho is lack of parking. A few times I walked past when they're busy and the footpath is all taken up with motos such that pedestrians have to walk on the road to go past.

They have an oysters night which got me excited but.. $1 each...still, would have to be imported...presumably not those cheap, small ones from Vietnam.

A staff pic from Facebook.

Lol that is not a staff pic they are all a group of friends quite successful Khmer businesswomen on a birthday party, including the photographers wife (middle left) _ i'm sure they'll have a chuckle when they see this. Oysters are provided by Ostra fine foods.

The place has a good happy hour but it does do the irritating Service and tax on your bill instead of just wrapping it in the price in the first place.

Lol, unless your "successful" business is Rose Bar, having a wide open blouse with your B-cup filled bra heaving out is a rung or two, short of classy in my book.

Whilst were at it, why don't you peel down those skin-tight jeans a smidgen, mamma and lets have a peak at that thong. :thumb:

Well, I presumed they were staff coz they all wore what I thought was a uniform of white shirt, jeans and red shoes.... Do successful Khmer businesswomen on a birthday party normally all wear the same clothes? Why will they chuckle? :beer3:

I understand that was the point to dress similar white shirt and jeans. I'd imagine they would chuckle at the thought of being mistaken for staff at Orphic. Staff there dress in a kinda speakeasy style shirts and braces
