With the Tiger Street Football Festival 2019 getting underway in Sihanoukville tomorrow, organisers have revealed they are hoping to bring Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho to Phnom Penh for the March grand final.
The 7th edition of the football festival is set to be the biggest ever with over 600 teams expected to join the qualifying tournaments. The qualifying tournaments will cover nine cities including, Sihanoukville, Takeo Kompong Speu, Battambang, Siem Reap, Poipet, Kompong Cham, Kandal and Phnom Penh. This annual event will commence tomorrow and conclude in March.
64 top teams will be joining the final tournament with only the very best of the best teams competing for supremacy at the grand finals in Phnom Penh in front of Koh Pich Theater on 16th and 17th of March.
At last year’s competition, and after traversing the length and breadth of the kingdom taking in Sihanoukville, Kampong Speu, Battambang, Siem Reap, Poipet, Kampong Cham, and Kandal, the 6th Annual Tiger Street Football Festival saw Anachak Baitong land the championship trophy – and with ex-Manchester United legend and Tiger Beer brand ambassador Ryan Giggs in attendance.
After navigating the knockout stage, Phnom Penh-based Anachak Baitong were drawn to meet Sihanoukville’s Preah Sihanouk Police Department in the grand final.
