Judge rules man's upskirt photos of girl, 13, at Target not a crime but appalling

Portland man, 61, admits to snapping photos up her skirt, but he did not violate privacy laws because such sightings can occur by happenstance, judge cites

An Oregon judge has ruled that a 61-year-old man did nothing illegal when he crouched in the aisle of a Target store and snapped photos up a 13-year-old’s skirt.

It was lewd and appalling, but not outlawed, Washington county judge Eric Butterfield said.

“From a legal point of view, which unfortunately today is my job to enforce, he didn’t do anything wrong,” the judge said on Thursday.

Patrick Buono of Portland didn’t dispute using his cellphone to take upskirt photos on 3 January at the store in suburban Beaverton, the Oregonian reported.

But his defense lawyer, Mark Lawrence, argued Buono didn’t violate the laws against invasion of privacy and attempted encouraging child sexual abuse, a child abuse images count...

Yes, Richard you are right, the laws are on the side of this pervert. One can only hope that the Beaverton PD keep a close eye on this jerk. (BTW/ Beaverton is a pretty nice town.) He probably breaks some laws every day and should be prosecuted for those. If I had a daughter and this perv did this, he had better move to another state as accidents do happen. (revenge is a dish best served cold.) Target is within their rights to post his picture in their stores stating that he is banned and they don't want his business. And yes, if he posted the pictures he would be in the Iron Bar Hotel playing drop the soap with Buba. Its a shame that our 1st Amendment laws and others cover this pervert, but with the good they cover, you get some bad also. I've got no idea why I hate freedom so much ali baba, except that it creeps me out when the law says that it is ok to take upskirt snapshots of a 13 yo kid in a supermarket without her permission. The law says that she is not being molested when a 60 yo creep is taking photos of her knickers in a public place, and I disagree with that.
So what freedom are you talking about ? His freedom to perve, or her freedom to go shopping without some a-hole trying to look at her genitals ?
IMO children should be protected against sexual perverts by the law. Unfortunately, this is not how the laws works in Oregon, US.

Allowing strangers to invade the personal space and violate the privacy of a girl as she shops is a sign of how liberal and uncensored life is in Oregon.

The law makers Of Oregon, USA are a beacon to the world. A light on the hill.

The rest of the world should admire their example and attempt to emulate them as best we can.
