Seems to be some security incident, possibly the shooting of a guard, at the US Capitol. Staff inside are being told to "shelter in place", which means hide under your desks and hope not to get shot. The shooter is reported to be in custody.

Apparently the threat is over. Here is NPR's coverage.

Big Ghettos and slums in Washington DC. Unsafe city to live in. Had some of the most restrictive firearms laws in America. Both it and Chicago (also with restrictive firearms laws) are the murder capitals of America.

wot a load of nra spouted nonsense

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U ... %282014%29

Per 100,000 poulation
washington dc - 16th for murder and manslaughter - 13th for violent crime
chicago - 19th for murder and manslaughter - 24th for violent crime

New york state also has restrictive gun controls - it is 6th for murder, same with maryland - 4th for murder and 6th for violent crime, one behind winsonsin which has the most lax gun laws. etc etc

when you compare one city in a state it gives a skewed view

SinnBoy: Of course you believe everything you read in the media also. Have you been to a DC ghetto or the ghettos in Chicago, I think not! BTW/ New York as had the restrictive "Sullivan Law" on the books for decades on the ban on ownership of pistols. Talk about something you know a little bit about. On this subject I say BS to Wikipedia. Where is their source? The FBI? Of course the FBI isn't going to put Washington DC as a murder capital. You don't do that when your headquarters is in the murder capitol as it makes you look like you can't control crime and wasted those billions of dollars that Congress gave you to fight crime. You will notice that all the cities with high violent crime rates have a large Ghetto population.

In 2015 Washington DC had a 45% increase in murders over 2014. (CNN News Aug 30, 2015)

unfortunately the majority of americans (in some states) believe that being armed will stop terrorist/nutter attacks, like the average yank is a trained marksmen in stressful frightening situations maybe even confusing innocent civilians (with guns) for a terrorist!

ohh brown person,shoot!

as long as trump gets in power all should be equal in the world by about 2020
