Jakarta: Indonesian officials have threatened to shut down Bali's prestigious international writers festival, compelling organisers to cancel sessions discussing the bloody massacre of alleged communists in 1965.
The political censorship of this year's Ubud Writers and Readers Festival is unprecedented in the 12-year history of the popular event...
Jakarta: Panel sessions and a film on the 1965 anti-communist massacres in Indonesia were prohibited at an international literary festival in Bali due to a 1966 government regulation banning communism and Marxism-Leninism, according to a Balinese police chief.
Gianyar police chief Farman told Fairfax Media there was also a 1999 criminal code which made the spreading of communism, Marxism and Leninism in public a punishable offence with a maximum sentence of 12 years' jail...

It comes as no surprise when you consider that many of the men who committed or ordered the deaths of so many innocent people are still in positions of power, including parliament,all across Indonesia.
Watch the documentary " The Look of Silence." Shocking.

Agreed, it's a great documentary, as is its predecessor. The lack of any remorse by almost all the players is stunning.
