Scotland's Shame - Pan Am 103
Scotland's Shame - Pan Am 103
Renowned Dutch documentary about Pan Am 103;
On Wednesday The 21st of December 1988, a Boeing 747 of pan American airlines blew up, flying overt the Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing all 259 passengers and crew and 11 more people on the ground.
The biggest terror attack in Europe. A massive investigation started, the FBI and Scottish police interviewed 15,000 people around the world. 180,000 pieces of evidence were collected. In 2000 the Lockerbie trial took place in Holland, a special court was build, including jail facilities and a media center. costs came over a 100 million pounds.
Two Libyan men stood trial. One man, Abdulbased Al Megrahi, was found guilty, and was sentenced for life imprisonment. the other man was acquitted. As a result of this trial, Libya paid, 2.7 billion dollars to the families of the victims, 10 million dollars per death.
All of this happened because of one crucial piece of evidence. On the 27th of April 2009, a second appeal started in Scotland as an independent commission concluded that there might have been a miscarriage of justice in the Lockerbie case. The appeal was expected to last over a year, but time was running out for the Libyan prisoner, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He has always maintained his innocence.
Investigative journalist Gideon Levy talks to the main investigators of the Lockerbie case, and finds out that something went terribly wrong with the main peace of physical evidence.
Lockerbie Revisited is a griping and beautifully shot film, which keeps surprising and will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

But looks can be deceiving. An analysis of the circuit tracks of PT/35(b) reveals that they are covered with pure tin while the tracks of the board of the MST-13 timers are covered with a mix of tin and lead.
Thus, we know that PT/35(b) is a forgery. We also know that at least one witness was well aware that PT/35(b) could not have been part of the MST-13 timers delivered to Libya and that this witness deliberately withheld this information from the court. At this point, one can reasonably infer that this so-called evidence was planted.
