Proof that the death penalty is not a deterrent ? Are people dumb or just greedy ?

More than half of them are thought to have been detained in China; four known cases involve smuggling methamphetamine, commonly known in Australia as ice. In 2014, China Daily reported that of 63 foreign drug-smuggling suspects detained by officials in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, 11 were Australian.

Rao Jiyong, a deputy director at the city’s anti-smuggling customs bureau, told the newspaper that drug-smuggling cases involving Australian suspects had rapidly increased over the past two years and cooperation had been strengthened with Australian federal police and customs officials.

In 2013-14, more than a third of Australians in prison overseas were there because of drug offences. Countries which apply the death penalty on those convicted of using, dealing or trafficking drugs include Indonesia, Thailand, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.

Of the 11 in China, I bet there's not one Davo or Johnno amongst them. More like Lee Ying and Wun Fu, etc.

Another one on the list of Australians:

Sydney woman Maria Exposto sentenced to death in Malaysia for drug trafficking

Sydney grandmother Maria Exposto has been found guilty of drug trafficking charges by the Court of Appeal of Malaysia and will face the death penalty.

Her lawyers will file an appeal in the Malaysian federal court.
The 54-year-old woman had been released on bail in January in Malaysia after avoiding the death penalty late last year.

She was caught with 1.1 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine at Kuala Lumpur International Airport en route from Shanghai to Melbourne in 2014.

After three years in prison, she was found not guilty of drug trafficking in December 2017, with Judge Dato Ghazali finding Exposto was duped into carrying the drugs in a romance scam.
But Exposto remained in detention as the prosecutor planned to file an appeal.

Dit laat my koud.

As usual, fake liberals craving sympathy for, in many cases, self-confessed drug-pushers, murderers, extortionists, but silent on innocent, defenceless, unarmed women and children murdered in Gaza. The late dear leader from TOF was of this persuasion. Oh dear, let's protest the death penalty for scum, but ignore the continual and ongoing murder of innocents or the UK/US selling arms to Saudi so they can commit a genocide in Yemen.

@Anchor Moy: not directed at you, I like your posts, reflect on them, and respect your position.
