This is not good at all.. apparently 2 missiles have landed. A few miles inside the polish border. The comments in the telegraph baying for a NATO retaliation without pause for thought as to if it was an accident or technical glitch. And the possibility of a fast escalation are quite scary.

Local reports said two people died in the village of Przewodow, close to the border with Ukraine
Stray Russian missiles landed in Poland on Tuesday, killing two people on Nato territory, the US has confirmed.

One or two projectiles reportedly struck a tractor carrying grain near the village of Przewodow, which lies about five miles from the Ukrainian border, just before 4pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Photographs of the incident showed a wrecked trailer and tractor lying beside a deep crater.

The local fire brigade in Przewodow said that it had received reports of explosions at a grain silo, and that two people died on the spot. It added that it was securing the scene.

"Firefighters are on the spot, it's not clear what has happened," said Lukasz Kucy, officer on duty at a nearby firefighters' post.

The missile strikes occured at the same time that Moscow launched a significant missile barrage on Lviv, Ukraine’s most western city.

Mateusz Morawiecki, the Polish prime minister, called an emergency meeting of the country’s national security committee to address the "crisis situation".

A Polish minister told the Telegraph the "investigation is still ongoing" into the missile strike.

The incident marks the first time a Russian attack on Ukraine has killed someone inside neighbouring Nato territory
Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said: "I don't want to speculate or get into hypotheticals.

"When it comes to our security commitments and Article 5 we have been crystal clear that we will defend every inch of Nato territory.

"We are aware of the press reports alleging that two Russian missiles have struck a location inside Poland near the Ukraine border.

"I can tell you that we don't have any information at this time to corroborate those reports and are looking into this further."

He added: "We have no information at this time to corroborate the press reports. We're looking into these reports. That's all we have at this time press reports.

"Were taking them seriously. It's incumbent on all of us to get the facts."

Viktor Orban, Hungary's prime minister, also called a meeting of his defence council, according to his spokesman.

The deadly incident marks the first time a Russian attack on Ukraine has killed someone inside neighbouring Nato territory since the start of the war.

Jens Stoltenberg, Nato's secretary general, has previously claimed its 30 members would defend and protect every inch of its territory in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

However, defence sources issued caution, stressing it was likely an "accident" by Russia.

Artis Pabriks, Latvia's defence minister and deputy prime minister, said: "My condolences to our Polish brothers in arms. Criminal Russian regime fired missiles which target not only Ukrainian civilians but also landed on Nato territory in Poland.

"Latvia fully stands with Polish friends and condemns this crime."

Meanwhile, Estonia's foreign ministry said: "Latest news from Poland is most concerning. We are consulting closely with Poland and other Allies. Estonia is ready to defend every inch of NATO territory. We’re in full solidarity with our close ally Poland."

It came as Russia rained missiles on cities across Ukraine on Tuesday after its humiliating withdrawal from Kherson.

Air raid sirens blared and explosions rang out in nearly a dozen major cities, in what Ukraine said was the heaviest wave of missile strikes in nearly nine months of war.

That echoed a pattern in recent weeks of Moscow lashing out far from the front after losses on the battlefield.

Russia had launched 110 missiles and 10 Iranian-made attack drones into Ukraine by early evening, Ukraine's armed forces General Staff said in a statement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the main target of the missile flurry was energy infrastructure, as before.

"It's clear what the enemy wants. He will not achieve this," he said in a video address on the Telegram messaging app. Kyiv has said such strikes only stiffen its resolve to repel Russian forces that invaded in February.

In the capital Kyiv, flames funnelled out of a five-storey apartment block after being hit by what residents said appeared to be shot-down pieces of missile.

The emergency service said one person was confirmed killed and another injured. Kyiv's mayor said half the capital was left without electricity.

Other strikes or explosions were reported in cities ranging from Lviv and Zhytomyr in the west to Kryvy Rih in the south and Kharkiv in the east.

Regional officials reported some of the attacks had knocked out electricity, water and heating.

Yes, doubtful the Russians are targeting tractors and farmers.

Glitch, knocked off course.

It's looking like this was either an accident caused by the Ruskies directly, or it was knocked off course by anti-air defences. Very unlikely Russia would target a small farm on the border.

However, this doesn't negate the fact that a NATO country has now been hit. Something many have been warning about since the start of the conflict, and NATO has to be seen to do something, otherwise it will send the wrong message to Russia that NATO perhaps aren't prepared to risk WWIII, regardless of whatever provocation Russia throws at it.

Worrying times indeed.

Makes you wonder what other accidents could happen when Russia's deployable nuclear missiles number about 1,588.
An estimated 200,000 dead or injured through no fault of their own, insane!

One theory doing the rounds is that they were s3000 surface to air anti missile, missiles. Fired by Ukraine. The idea being that if they miss their intended target they just keep going till they fall out of the sky. In this case over Poland.
It just seems a little unlikely that they would both run out of fuel so close to each other.

Apparently there is a power station very close by in Ukraine that might have been a target.

Joe Biden now saying it's unlikely that the missile was fired from Russia. Which leaves a couple of explanations...

Either it was fired from Russia but by saying that it wasn't, it avoids NATO having to generate some sort of response which will inevitably escalate the war to extremely dangerous levels.

Or, the missile was fired by the Ukrainians in the hope that the rest of the world will blame Russia, which will bring NATO further into the conflict, inevitably benefitting Ukraine immensely. If it turns out that this is the case, where will that leave Ukraine? Will the world see it as a dirty tactic by Ukraine to essentially trick the west into getting more involved?

Or is there another agent at play?

Strange times indeed...

The latest is that it is unlikely from Russia!
