More Deportations

Why would the lucky country deport two kids who were born in Australia to a country they have never been to . Deporting kids and their parents in the middle of the night is a cowardly act , and then moving them to Christmas Island where their lawyers have no or limited access to them is even a more nastier act. There seems to be no compassion at all in this present Australian government. In fact the minister of Immigration Peter Dutton was described by Julia Bishop as the most nastiest person in politics she had ever met. But wait, don't the Australian people have a Prime Minister who is a active church member and recognizes the value of families and what they contribute to society. With a bit of luck he may get advice from the congregation at the church he attends and realize that Australia is a big country and was built buy migrants , and needs more migrants , especially young kids that will grow up and contribute to the country's future.

Could you describe how the community found out about the dawn raid?

The first thing is the secrecy. It wasn’t until a good week later that we managed to unfurl what had happened, after we spoke to their neighbour, who was traumatised by what she witnessed.

The neighbour described hearing Priya screaming. This still sends shivers down my spine imagining it. She then ran out and saw the house surrounded by police officers and Serco guards, all armed. The neighbour was not allowed to go and comfort Priya, even though she owned the property the family was living in. She then watched as Priya and Nardes were put in a vehicle and the girls were put in separate vehicle.

That was the initial description, but we then heard it again from Priya and Nardes, after they were allowed to use a phone. We heard how they were basically given a very short amount of time to pack up their lives and they had no idea what was going to happen to them.

It was around 5am, and the family were starting the day like any other. Nardes was dressed and was about to head off to work. His keys were left in his car, with his wallet. There was meat in the sink defrosting, a baby bottle left on the bench. They were treated like criminals.

There is a difference in Australian born and born in Australia. Just because you were born in Australia gives no right of Australian citizenship. They take the nationality of their parents.

Happens a lot in my country. People apply for asylum, are denied, hang around illigally, have a child And then play the ‘inhuman’ card because the kid’s vulnerable, has never been to the parents’ country, rooted here, etc etc.
Pretty frustrating in civilized countries because many people manage to stay that way And drain the social security system for years

jus sanguinis and jus soli

Australia: Since 20 August 1986, a person born in Australia acquires Australian citizenship by birth only if at least one parent was an Australian citizen or permanent resident; or else after living the first ten years of their life in Australia, regardless of their parent's citizenship status (see Australian nationality law).

Yes the civilized thing to do is send children to a country they have never been to or as in the case of my own country, deny some children of the military serving our civilized nation borne outside the country where their parents are stationed American citizenship. Why use the word civilized when what you really mean is white?

But,,, I believe that the Minister of Imigration or the Prime minister can over-ride all that on compassionate grounds,

Are we talking abou Australia or USA, both deporting kids ort, in the case of USA, just killing them at the border.
Sad fact of life is that the 2 countries that treat immigrants the worst are both countries created by immigrants and both rich and both with plenty of land and other resources.
Even the UK, a supposedly tolerant society, is guilty. Nepalese Gurkhas sent home on miniscule epnsions afet a lifetime of military service in the UK. The Windrush generation abused and kicked out, EU citizens who have lived in Uk for 30 years being denied permission to stay.
The worst people to have dealing with immigration are the children of immigrants. they dont want anyone else coming to the party and drinking the beer
