Analysis of Tesla from Aussie “auto expert” John Cadogan

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Analysis of Tesla from Aussie “auto expert” John Cadogan

Post by Clutch Cargo »

“Tesla is, among car makers at least, what Scientology is among religions – you simply must suspend all rational thought before you are allowed to walk through the door. The company is little more than a confidence trick aimed at rich, green imbeciles, who are dumb enough to believe that you can actually spend and consume your way to a sustainable future.”

Caveat: Cadogan runs a new car brokering business so not exactly unbiaised...https://autoexpert.com.au/

Lol,

Who the fuck is that guy?

I want a tesla (or a superior EV) because of the acceleration and torque figures. I could care less about carbon neutrality of my vehicles.

Strong emotions, about a car you don't have to buy.
What do you hate about them?

I hate Teslas because they're extremely unreliable, badly built, but cost a fortune to buy and then Tesla refuses to service your car once it's out of warranty, not for warranty repairs, but servicing PERIOD. And then there's the ridiculousness of the parts, $1,200 for a door handle (which fail on a yearly basis), $8,000 for an e-brake assembly, $6,000 for the "one moving part" motor...they're an absolute joke. You want a way to piss people off of EVs? Sell them a Tesla, and then screw them over repeatedly like they've been doing from day one, and then send them back crying for their gas guzzling monsters.

That being said, I should make it clear that I am a fan of EVs and hybrids in general. I've had several and I very much like the EV benefits, and that's why I reserve such hatred for Tesla, because they're not a car company at all. They're a profit making software company that sells cars, and really shit cars at that.

Fair enough.
I don't plan to buy a car again, but I wouldn't mind the air being a bit cleaner when i visit the big city.

Cadogan has commercial partnerships with Hyundai, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Kia and Subaru. I dunno if that's by design or otherwise coz he claims (rightly or wrongly) they are the only brands worth owning and so he bags all the other brands Ford, GMH, VW, Mercedes, and everything else. That's the reason I can't take him seriously. While GM and Ford Australia has their flaws obviously, I think it's ridiculous to partner up with other companies and then call yourself an auto "expert" who is supposed to be doing journalistic work.

And also having worked for Hyundai/Kia, I find it hard to take seriously someone who claims it's worth owning over an economical VW or Merc. They're both on the shoddy side if I'm honest, and I'm a fairly big German car fan (which is what I have now). I also worked for Mazda, but after doing so I remained impressed and happy enough with their cars, while the Korean experience convinced me to steer clear.

Never heard of this guy. As for the assertions of A10, I know Tesla owners and they don't complain. They are not that expensive and sell well in Australia. About 50,000 sold last year, about the same as the Camry.
