Short Story: '64 Ford Falcon

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Short Story: '64 Ford Falcon

Post by Cinnamoncat »

Here's a story I wrote. I thought some of you might like a story about my first car!

What was YOUR first car?

I'd love to know about it. Was it a piece of shit? a muscle car?

Here's a story about mine.

Now that's more like it!

"We saved her, though. She was a tank." -> but what was her name?

My first car was my older sister's VW Beetle, same as your story pretty much - she spent all her money on booze & drugs & couldn't afford to run it; but technically it remained hers. (name: Horace)

My first car with my name on the ownership documents was a $100 Renault 5, well multiple Renault 5's put back into one actually (hence name: Dolly, like a bag of Dolly mixture sweets), but it lasted me throughout university & even a year after that before it conked out on my failed attempt to get home & vote. A few weeks later my Dad called to say the flat-bed trailer had come to pick her up ... and she started, first time, and drove on one last time.

My first car was a 1938 Morris Eight Series E 2 door, similar to this 1948 model, as there were very few changes during all those years. I paid 120 NZ pounds for it in 1963 and got my drivers licence in 1962 at the age of 15. All my cars had names and this one was called '' Bernadine ''

My second car was a 1956 Morris Minor Convertible. Named '' Sweet Sue '' In some other photos you can see the name written on the door in yellow

And my third car was a 1957 Morris 1000 Convertible named '' Lolita ''

Here is another Morris Minor Convertible that I restored .A 1954 model Named '' Nora Jean ''
Spoiler:
Norma Jean Baker = Marilyn Monroe

After , but still waiting for the front bumper to be re-chromed

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Duncan---you're the MAN when it comes to working a car over. I'm very impressed. Nice photos of you in your shining youth too, might I add.

Yes, got mine on my 15th birthday ... and in the subsequent 55 years have never owned one!
In retrospect, 15 was lunacy.
