Alogrithms, YouTube and paedophiles

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Alogrithms, YouTube and paedophiles

Post by violet »

The internet....love it | detest the dark side of humanity it brings out of the shadows, but at least we know better what we are dealing with. Maybe alogrithms should be banned.
I haven't double checked this story.
Comments beneath scores of videos appear to show paedophiles sharing timestamps for parts of the videos where exposed genitals can be seen, or when a child does the splits or lifts up their top to show their nipples. Some of the children in the videos, most of whom are girls, appear to be as young as five. Many of the videos have hundreds of thousands, if not millions of views, with hundreds of comments.
...
Since November 2017, it’s been YouTube policy to disable comments on videos where users are saying “inappropriate” things. However, although comments are disabled, those videos – typically of children simply going about their lives – were still recommended by an algorithm that decided within a few videos that our main interest was in little girls flashing their crotches. Many of the videos we found did not have comments disabled and had racked up millions of views

I find it very challenging to understand the mentality of those creating such content

Ps. I'm obviously very late to this party as people are already very aware of this stuff. I don't have children and wasn't really aware of the extent of it.

Is this actually a thing? Or is it just more satanic cult fearmongering? Paedos have access to better shit than blurry paused videos on youtube.

I think you missed the parts that say they share contact details etc in comments....plus, it would allow identification of like minded individuals who might then.message each other in YouTube and use their carefully coded language to progress from there.
