'Mars awaits': Trump supporters to vote on logo for space force

The Trump administration has announced a new space force to protect America from what Mike Pence has called “the growing security threats emerging in space”.

But Trump supporters have been asked to put aside questions like “How much will this cost?” and “Isn’t the air force already doing this?” and instead focus their attention on another crucial issue: what should the space force logo be?

Brad Pascale, who is Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign manager, has emailed supporters asking them to vote for one of six space force logos to commemorate the “huge announcement”.

There's a lot more threats coming from space recently so it's reasonable that the US would want to develop some sort of space fighters that could ward off attacks that are likely to be very similar to those seen in the movie "Independence Day".

I’m kind of torn on the idea of this but logically it’s not that much of a stupid idea.

With the technology we use in our daily lives now days it would be logical to think that we should protect the satellites in space in some form. Let’s say hypothetically the Russians want to attack the US, one of the first things they could target would be the satellites and hinder the communication abilities of the US. The would automatically have the upper hand in any war.

If the US needs a whole new army division for this is another matter but the logic behind some form of armed space services to protect the interests in space is not that crazy. I think people are taking it to literal in meaning and thinking he wants to send armed forces personal into space.

What are the chances of anything coming from mars, anyway?
