i used to keep and breed praying mantis, love them heres a mixtue of my favourite flower mantids









and cant beat the peacock mantis shrimp!

I've also come across some very strange creatures on this planet, all of which of these species can be found in Cambodia.

This one has been known to chop people:



This one is usually found in dreadlock trains, in the North Eastern part of Cambodia in the little town of Siem Reap:



This creature has a pair of man boobs (known within the scientific community as "moobs") that can produce a whopping 2 litres of milk a day:



This one is originally from China, but has migrated west and can often be found perched upon vehicles in city limits. This one was spotted in Phnom Penh:



Referring to itself as a "baller," it is most often referred to by others as a "bottom-feeder":



And these gender fluid creatures only come out at night, and can make valuables dissappear and are often armed with stiletto heels that can cause major damage when attacking.



There are a lot more hopefully endangered species like these slithering around South East Asia, so keep your wits about you.

Apparently sea cucumbers have symbiant fish living up their bums, that they shoot out when distressed.

Also, wombats produce cubic poo, and no-one seems to know why.

Where we lived in the Australian desert is a frog known colloquially as the Bonk Frog. It buries itself and goes into stasis until it rains, at which time it pops out of the ground and proposes intercourse to all and sundry by constantly saying "Bonk."

Further south in Perth is a breed of frogs known as Motorbike Frogs, which sound exactly like a Harley working up through the gears. They are so damned annoying that the local universities have 24/7 rescue teams that will come to your location, find the little bastards, and relocate them to a wetlands.

That's one thing I love about here, all the amazing creatures. Just the other day I was in a room where there was no power and what seemed to be a small bird suddenly flew out from under a chair. It was a moth as big as my hand. I was impressed but not so much as when I found an Atlas Moth on a tree near my house, that was as big as my two hands. Geckos running around, Tokays making the odd appearance, the odd Praying Mantis or Rhinoceros Beetle flying in, all good.

We had a stag beetle of some sort wander in the back door yesterday. I shooed it out with the broom and on the first swipe it stopped and looked me in the eye as if to say, "Woah. What's that about?"

Oh, and Mrs Stroppy had one of those big geckos (the ones that shouldn't work, they're so big) on the bathroom wall the other day. We shut the door on it and it found it's way out the air vent it came in through, presumably.

Maybe one of these Centaurus Beetles?




The ones I encounter more are like this, they are harmless but when they are buzzing around smacking into things (they can be as big as a quail's egg) it can be a bit freaky. They are all pretty slow on the ground and you could just pick them up and drop them outside, however they'll often try and climb on you and stick their hooks into your skin, it's just the way they roll but feels awful and it's hard to take them off without damaging them. I think having a tarantula crawl on my arm was one of the creepiest ones, but a giant centipede would scare me much more.

I think those are African, but similar to that. More antler-ish.
