Better go if you haven't been, wonderful place...
Plans for a massive Chinese development project around the famed Khonephapheng waterfall in Champasack Province are moving forward, as talks between provincial authorities and a Chinese investment firm continue.
This was a great area a few years ago before they started daming the Mekong, but still an area worth visiting...

laos needs $$$$
China has $$$$$$
so .....
only thailand and vietnam will resist
Not much Chinese investment ( yet) in Myanmar, EXCEPT the jade mines and around Mu Se,( they even use Chinese currency there, whores and casinos)

When I went to Bangkok, the majority of guests in the hotel were Chinese. Three years ago there was maybe one or two Chinese guests.
I doubt most Thais will resist if the price is right
