Plenty has been written on the subject far more recently because the Gaucho of the Vatican wants
to make Agnes the Albanian a saint tooty sweety but the Hitchens piece is probably the best as well as being quite certainly
new to some readers here.

As with almost all religions, its about power, control and money/wealth, in that order. The Vatican is setting on untold wealth, but makes poor people contribute to them and is/was against birth control so members would make more members. Here and there they do some good, but mostly its about pushing their doctrine and power, control, money/wealth.
