@Basta.binici, how much rent per month was that place getting 3 years ago?

I don't think he can hear you. And anyway, do you really think any realtor would give you a straight answer to that kind of question?

I was just enquiring as I would of though that apartment would have commanded a higher price a few years ago. Anyone know what the rental rates would have been 3 years as Basta is not replying.

Yes, sorry I was a tad brusque. Your question was a good one but realtors do not like giving straight answers. My old apartment is asking for the same money as it was in 2014 (about $3 psm per month). I know of a prime block of apartments whose rents were reduced by 50% (from 1000 to 500) n April 2020 and they have not gone back up. The owners did get tenants by doing that. They work out at about $7 psm per month (reduced from $14). The run of the mill condos would be less.

Brusque, you? Never!

I was looking at the ad and thought to myself that if I had seen that in November 2017 at $600 ish a month I would have gone for that over my $400 a month, 3rd floor, rooftop hot box that costs me $100 in electric to keep it cool. Plus the stinking cooking smells in the stairwell.

When my lease runs out, and unless travel to the UK and then South America is feasible, I might well make a move and have a bit of condo living.

You are unlikely to find a condo that sells you electric at the government rate. 30 cents is normal.
For me, they are OK in principle but there aren't any where I want to live, i.e. Riverside.
There are some really swish apartments around 108/110 (not condos).
