Why has it been serviced every 5000 kilometres? That's just over 3000 miles... What's the recommended schedule?

It's a Khmer mechanics thing.

They always put down 5k for what would be a 10k service in "the west".

I suspect four main reasons.

1: They use shite brands of oil.

2: Dust here gets through air filters and contamination happens faster.

3: probably running oil a grade lighter than needed for this heat, so it needs changing more often.

4: Get you back twice as often.

Same with bikes. Lots of people change oil every month. No need, but whatever.
