Only ones bigger than bee gees in dance pop disco were Abba which you forgot or to cool to include
But really there are thousands of number one hits from one hit wonders that can be on your list

They might be backstage with Donna Summer.

What a contribution the Supremes made though, and Dianna Ross in particular. She was such an amazing and natural performer. Check her out here. The facial expressions, the jealousy in the voice. It's just wonderful wonderful performing.

For me the Supremes were the early mid 60s US version of the Beatles. Obviously they didn't go on to develop their music in the same way, but from what I can see they were the real US 'equivalent' of the band as it was at that time not the beach boys who I think are hugely over rated.
So, rather than the “hugely overrated” Beach Boys (a band of actual instrument playing musicians/singers who wrote all their own material) you think the Supremes, a trio of, albeit great, singers, performing songs written for them by other writers, equate to the Beatles, a band of actual instrument playing musicians/singers who wrote all their own material?
You’re just making lists of records claiming they are “the best” just because you like them, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but your illusions of being some kind of musical authority are blown out of the water by your delusional Supremes = Beatles comparison.

I didn't forget Abba, I just don't believe their records are up to scratch at this level.

It's misleading the way I've presented it. I identified what I believe are the best records ever and then split them down at the last minute into different categories. These aren't intended to be the best pop/dance records, they're intended to be the best records which are dance/pop.

I completely disagree about the 1 hit wonders. I've considered just about everything under the sun, I just forgot to consider the bee gees.

If you can identify a 1 hit wonder that's as good as those tracks I've linked though then I would be pleased to know about it.

It's not delusional. Saw her standing there, help, love me do, she loves you etc etc. This was the same sort of stuff that was being put out by Supremes, irrespective of who wrote it and irrespective or what they went on to do in the future, these were the 2 hit factories from what I can see. My understanding is that the beach boys were considered the beatles stateside 'rivals', but that just seems to me to be on the basis that they were guys. It was the Supremes who were putting out the great catchy tunes that could compare to what the Beatles were doing at the time, not the beach boys whose best record wouldn't compare to the supremes 5th best record.

I rest my case.

The Beatles were amazing musicians. Lennon and McCartney were pretty dreadful as performers (compare to Jagger for example) and as vocalists (eg while my guitar gently weeps), but what they did as a band was astonishingly pioneering. In the early days though they were just a smartly dressed hits factory. Like the Supremes but without the charisma.

Lennon and McCartney didn't write While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

So, apart from your hobby of making lists of music then naming them 'the best xxx', do you have any affiliation with Cambodia?

Cher suggested to her then husband that he goes shopping with Ross to get some ideas for what he can buy her (Cher) for Christmas. So they go shopping. He falls in love with Ross. Bye bye Cher (who I believe was almost kate bush hot back in the day).
Which begs the question of what about "Rock and Roll All Night" and "I Was Made For Loving You". Not on your lists, yet huge hits.

I didn't know that but it's nothing to do with my observation about their poor stage performance and vocals (on that song or in general) so I don't get your point.

Yes, I have some affiliation with Cambodia. It is in my heart.

The 2nd one's obviously a good track. Wouldn't trouble my stuff though imo. The 1st one....uuurggghh.

Christ, is that who Diana Ross married. This world will never stop surprising. Guess it's just a stage performance though.
