The Devils 1971 - Oliver Reeds best film, based on a true story in 17th century France, it's a true masterpiece, watch the uncut version if you can find it.

Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia 1974 - Sam Peckinpah's "Go fuck yourself" to hollywood, the title says it all.

I was disappointed by "the Irishman" unfortunately.

All 2019 releases:

"The Report" is a great factual movie about what happened to the CIA "torture" program and its cover-up, I did not find it boring and, I forget his name, but the main character is a good actor.

I thought "Ad Astra" was terribly boring. huge fail after enduring a 6-month wait to watch it.

Rambo "Last Blood" was surprisingly decent.

"Ready or Not" was a good funny horror flick

"The Kitchen" was a pretty damned good gangster movie about wives that ran their husband turfs.

"El Camino" is a great closing to the Breaking Bad series.

I'm going to watch 6 underground and code 8 today.

A charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score, makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime. Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.
Uncut Gems reaffirms the Safdies as masters of anxiety-inducing cinema -- and proves Adam Sandler remains a formidable dramatic actor when given the right material.

I found the new Joker movie and it actually made me feel uncomfortable. the acting may be the best that I have ever seen, on par with Hoffman in Rainman.

Interesting stereotype reversal I thought.. Members may recall this was during the 'Papa Doc' and 'Baby Doc' era. Oh, and it's got Charlotte Rampling in it.

From Wikipedia:

Heading South (French: Vers le sud) is a 2005 French-Canadian drama film directed by Laurent Cantet and based on three short stories by Dany Laferrière. It depicts the experiences of three middle-aged white women in the late 1970s, traveling to Haiti for the purposes of sexual tourism with young men. Their adventures (as seen in their eyes) are juxtaposed with class issues and the deteriorating political climate of Haiti at the time. The women demonstrate different attitudes to the complex situation.

These films give credence to the saying.
To each his own.
I try to watch nearly everything.
Most of the films talked about I have seen.
But, don't hold them in high regard.
I love the Japanese director Miike.
A true genius.
The original JACK IRISH films are superb and rhe subsequent series excellent.
I love all of Peckinpah's movies...Warren Oates was in alfredo garcia...He was a genius.
I agree Leon, The Professional is a classic..But, I love Luc Besson and buy everything he is associated with.
I think the sign of a great movie is being able to watch it over and over again.
Alas, I am an old dude who does not want actors out going apeshit about their political views.
It has caused me to shit can a great many films and take a pass on a host of others.
