Re: Recommended MOVIES
I had lots of fun with this. Classic style alien invasion sci-fi thriller with a surprise ending. Tense, enjoyable, well-animated, and with a nice dash of humour in it.

Calibre 2018
Tense, gritty, ugly little Brit drama set in a rural outpost over what was supposed to be a weekend of hunting
Good plot, casting let it down quite a bit in my eyes, pacing a bit slow for my usual taste. Had to watch it in three chunks as a result
Solid 5 out of 10 type movie

I was able to step back and observe it all from the outside. It was then I started to develop minimalist thinking style and habits. Over the years, I learned how to live well without "stuff". It was really a feeling of freedom that I had living like that. I have collected more stuff since returning to East Asia ... not much ... but just enough. But if I gave it all up tomorrow, I'd be ok. So for me, this movie really made a lot of sense.

Not bad if you enjoy drama/action type war movies. Blackhawk Down vibes.

I completely agree. What a disappointment.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 8:42 am Watched the new Napoleon movie last night

Decent performance from Phoenix (as always) isn't enough to save a turgid historical movie
Insipid CGI, very humdrum trot through his military campaign, too much script devoted to the mythical midgets romantic foibles
All around hollywood-ism of a great tale
AND it's too fucking long

The Iron Claw -2023
Based (apparently) on the true story of the Von Erich professional wrestling family
Fucking depressing movie lol - basically a family of retards acting like retards & dying retarded deaths for a retarded sport - but said retards attribute the misfortune to the family curse rather than their own retardation
It had a rating of 8/10. Whoever scored it as such clearly has a far greater appreciation of professional wrestling and a keener sense of nostalgia than I
