I saw it when it came out. There's probably a thread about it on here.

Good call. Modern classic, real cinema. If you liked it, check out their other movie, Birds of Passage. I've recommended it in this thread before.

It's one of those weirdly high-concept '70s flicks, a black comedy centered around a fictionalized version of the JFK assassination that barely managed to eke out $1 million at the box office. It's really only notable for featuring Jeff Bridges and for being possibly the lowest-profile film ever to have a mob killing associated with its production.

According to mob researcher John Fleming, the film was being produced by Robert Sterling and Leonard Goldberg, two rich drug dealers who had sunk their profits into the adult Emmanuelle series. Problematically, the duo did not actually have enough money to make the movie, so they went to some even richer, mobbier parties for financing. When the film kept going over budget, Goldberg reasoned that their investors would have to let them live long enough to ensure they'd make a profit, a colossal gamble that he decisively lost. Midway through the film's production, Goldberg was kidnapped and handcuffed to a bed, and shot in the head. The film lost a ton of money, partially because it only played in theaters for a couple weeks after the distributor got cold feet over its subject matter. The grisly mob-related murder of its drug-dealer producer didn't seem to hurt it much.
Watching it right now. Pretty wild. Thank you!
I watched Cry Macho the last released movie of Clint Eastwood. I think it's pathetic I do love Clint dearly as actor, director and producer, but watching him stumbling like a grandfather whith a loads his pants it bring up tears to my eyes. I think he should retire from acting.

Are you sure ? It loads for me, but an extra window pops up with adverts. The window with the movie on has a red number 2 in the banner at the top of your screen. For me, there's an ad in the middle of the screen, which I have to close down by clicking on the cross in the top right corner. Then it's all good (you get a couple more little pop up ads come up, which I'd got used to and had forgotten about, but you can either leave them or find the close down cross).

Edit: sorry, I see you've found them elsewhere anyway.

How 4 guys managed to cheat the Carbon Taxes / Quota system of 280 M euros.
1 dead, 1 in jail, 2 enjoying freedom after a few years in jail.
Only 20M have been traced back.
The 2 remaining guys aren't broke.
Netflix, in French but surely with a English dubbing / subs option.

I thought this movie was a hoot. A satire/spoof on contemporary society. Maybe a tad long but funny and great acting imho.
