He lives in his van.

Post by Kung-fu Hillbilly »

Sebastian is a young guy trying to make his way in the music industry who works part time where I get my morning coffee. Over the last eighteen months we've got to know each other through our conversations about music and life in general - he's become a fixture in my life's current routine.

The other day I asked him if he'd like to make a short video about his situation and life, so yesterday we found a car park and recorded the following.

It's a pretty rough and ready affair slapped together from start to finish in an afternoon and certainly won't be troubling any film festival critics, but it was fun to make and Sebastian also now has something he didn't previously.

You may need to turn your volume up....I'm buying a new mic tomorrow. :)

Let the stone throwing begin.

Each to their own, but I’m curious, he’s visually impaired yet he drives a van?

He hasn't got a license and his van often gets impounded. I guess if you've got nowhere to live....

I totally get the needing somewhere to live part, but the guy was filling up with gas, he obviously drives the van even though his eyesight is compromised, bad form.

I used to know some folks who lived in vans and RVs back in San Francisco. Some of their vehicles were non-operational and so they had to push them around on street cleaning days.

One guy removed the whole engine and shit. He cut a hole in the driver's side of the floor and would Fred Flintstone it around the block.

brought a van ( and looks like a nice one) vision impaired, ( australia gives ya free money, for the remainder of his life ?>>>wow) fills up with gas, so obviously drives somewhere and i quess pays the fines to get his van out of impound>
does working part time and the free $$ from the government cover all that ?
Guess so.

good on him

Maybe shoot an extra bit about him rehearsing in his van, doors open to the nature's sites he likes to go to, when escaping town ?
And also a bit of geographical context, streets around, how the neighborhood looks like around the shop ?

I think of a portrait like a bouquet of flowers, it's a presentation setting, so there is flowers, and also some green bits here and there to balance it and big it up.

Hey KfH. Cool story about an interesting lad. I like the slow pace of the piece.
