My Khmer Wife is pregnant
Re: My Khmer Wife is pregnant
Why can't you earn 18,600 a year in the UK? Try a little harder BFG. You've got a baby coming. If not, stay here. You don't have to send your kids to expensive schools or hospitals. There are good clinics here and schools that won't hurt your small bankroll. Also, interest rates are higher here so you can start saving for your families future quicker as the cost of living is lower. Good luck and congrats!BFG wrote:Hi all,
My Khmer partner is pregnant I'm from England and 29 we have a small business here in Cambodia, that does ok but I'm not sure we can earn enough money to raise a child here with school fees hospital care everything required here. Has anyone on here taken a partner to settle in there home country.
My information about bring my Khmer wife to settle in the UK is that I would need to earn at least £18,600 per year or have sufficient savings of about £65,0000 lol
Any help please guys.

Your right there, but your jumping the gun ,,, the baby is not even born yet ? You still have a few years to sort your life out, and always remember , the parents are the best teachers.BFG wrote:One of her friends is now currently living in the uk, has been married to an Englishman for Severn years and they have two childeren. So i don't think all that really matters the child's future comes first right ?
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Once the baby is born you will have to earn just over 20k per year as they take the cost associated with the child into account. Also you will have to earn this for a year before she is allowed to join you. If you have savings this figure reduces depending on how much you can prove you have stashed away. The road to a UK passport takes 5 years once she is here .

Yes thanks we are in no hurry yet but it's something to consider if I'm working as a plumber in the uk I would earn easily that much.
But I have been off my tools for a long time now we have a small Visa and passport busness. That does ok my partner being away from her family is not an issue. She rarely sees them anyway if I were going to make the move it would be in a few years when my son is about five or six.

I have a nine year old kid who has Cambodian/ Irish citizenship. We'll most likely move to Ireland for his 3rd level education, although I dread the idea.

Re: My Khmer Wife is pregnant
I think I want to try and keep my family here while commuting home for business purposes. Sometimes I might bring them with me as I did last year, as there are nice things about being home too, especially during the summertime. All depending on how the kids feel by then, we'd make a decision based on our experiences. I plan to put various touch screens to good use in their education. The future to me seem tuned towards learning from teachers online at ones own leisure, instead of sitting in a classroom in rows. I am not even sure regular schools will be useful once we really get used to all the new technology, kids could be spending more time together on the playground or with sports instead. I am blown away by how fast my kid is picking up English using a smartphone.

I don't think having a baby here is so bad but I would like the option to go back to the UK if needed in the future.
But I don't want to put any pressure on my parents so I would have to try and find employment that can make it happen.
I just don't want my littl boy to grow up for the rest of its life here and maybe hating me for never moving the family to the UK.
