Those mega-container-ships carry stacks of containers but these are not fastened together; if a big wave smacks amidships, the containers are slammed into the sea.*
If the containers WERE fastened together, the whole ship, and its crew and cargo, would turn turtle.
* It may, or may not, happen that a container breaks open which is how this series of events came to pass:

France is a republic, it's Royal Gendarmerie here. The French helped set up the Royal Gendarmerie in the 90s.Makewa wrote:GR = Gendarmerie Royaume = Military Police as in France

I don't think that is true. I saw a documentary on mega container ships [ may have been history channel ] and they not only lock down the containers diagonally but each container is put in a certain location , allocated by computer , to distribute the weight on the ship evenly.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Duncan is probably in error; this can be checked by digging through the files of 'Popular Mechanics" - my only remembered source was a
man met in a bar who had worked on container ships for years.

CEOCN believes the reader should do "your own research", which I consider to be a curious attitude for a newshound.table42 wrote:Is CEO Cambodia News pressed for time today? This article would have been interesting with more than just a slam, bam thank you mam blurb.
