Philippines wins South China Sea case against China.
China has lost a key international legal case over strategic reefs and atolls that it claims would give it control over disputed waters of the South China Sea. The judgment by an international tribunal in The Hague, which is chiefly in favour of claims by the Philippines, will increase global diplomatic pressure on Beijing to scale back military expansion in the sensitive area.
By depriving certain outcrops – some of which are exposed only at low tide – of territorial-generating status, the ruling effectively punches a series of holes in China’s all-encompassing “nine-dash” demarcation line that stretches deep into the South China Sea. It declares large areas of the sea to be neutral international waters.
The findings by the Hague tribunal contain a series of criticisms of China’s actions and claims. The court declares that “although Chinese navigators and fishermen, as well as those of other states, had historically made use of the islands in the South China Sea, there was no evidence that China had historically exercised exclusive control over the waters or their resources.
“The tribunal concluded that there was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the sea areas falling within the ‘nine-dash line’.”
China reacted angrily to the verdict. Xinhua, the country’s official news agency, hit out at what it described as an “ill-founded” ruling, adding: ‘ts decision is naturally null and void.”

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

A South China Sea Stand-off
An arbitration court in The Hague yesterday ruled that China had no historic title over the waters of the South China Sea and had breached the Philippines’ sovereign rights with its actions, but Cambodia’s government refused to budge on the issue.
In Phnom Penh the government said its position on the South China Sea disputes remained unchanged, as China’s Minister of State Security, Geng Huichang, met with senior leaders yesterday.
On the same day as the Court of Arbitration announced its verdict, Mr. Huichang met with Prime Minister HE, Minister of the Interior Sar Kheng, National Police Commissioner General Neth Savoeun and National Military Police Commander General Sao Sokha.
Eang Sophalleth, the personal spokesman for Prime Minister HE, said Mr. Huichang and government officials discussed security cooperation, fighting terrorism, intelligence and exchanging information, as well as training human resources.
“They did not discuss the issue of the South China Sea,” said Mr. Sophalleth.
However, Prime Minister HE reaffirmed Cambodia’s position on Friday at his cabinet ministers meeting...

Re: Philippines wins South China Sea case against China.
So, what happens next ? It's all very well for an international court to find against China, but who enforces the court ruling ?
http://www.news.com.au/world/asia/how-c ... eb5be5dec4CHINA has point-blank refused to acknowledge a ruling from an international court that it has no historic rights to develop islands in one of the world’s most fiercely contested waterways.
The South China Sea stand-off has left experts wondering what would happen if this military brinkmanship escalated into war.
While the Philippines may have triumphed in this David and Goliath battle at The Hague’s court of arbitration, the prospect of enforcing anything upon this military powerhouse is terrifying.
The Asian countries wrangling with China over this vital shipping lane are pondering their next move as the United States makes regular Freedom of Navigation exercises in the region...

China Gives 3.6 Billion After South China Sea Support
Prime Minister HE said China was planning to give 3.6 billion Yuan in grant aid to Cambodia for development between 2016 and 2018.
The massive grant package comes just days after Cambodia helped stop a joint ASEAN statement in support of a verdict by the Court of Arbitration at The Hague last Tuesday in favor of the Philippines, which says China is violating its territorial sovereignty by claiming and militarily developing atolls in the South China Sea.
