Police Are Stopping Vehicles in Sihanoukville For Not Having Road Tax Sticker
According to Huy Buleng (reporter) on Facebook, police have been pulling over cars and motorbikes in Sihanoukville for not having road tax stickers.
Might want to do a u-turn if you see a roadblock.

Great position for a roadblock. Just take a left and do a U-ee.
What's a road tax sticker, remind me please ? Next thing will be "do you have vehicle insurance ?"

I think next might be: Do you have a drivers license? Can't get insurance without.

But you don't need a license for a motorbike 125cc or less, right ? So, don't need insurance either ?Luigi wrote:I think next might be: Do you have a drivers license? Can't get insurance without.
And does "road tax sticker" mean vehicle registration ? This is also something that you don't need any more for motos since 2015 AFAIK. It's hard to keep up, but should be on FB somewhere.

Motos don't need road tax for the 2016 tax year. As it runs August to August/September you should still have your 2015 tax disc. You definitely do need the vehicle registration in your name, with your fake/non-existent/number-less road address. You're supposed to register the vehicle in your name within 3 months of purchase, you can't just have a chain of photocopies of previous owner's driving licences.
This is not really surprising as I was tooling along Ekareach and they had a road block but they pulled the Khmer in front of me and did a stare at my windscreen before moving out of the way. I was surprised as it was a fairly flash motor, I initially assumed it was me they were after. The vehicle road safety tags are a joke but I have one. Took my brother-in-law with me to get it, after he said, "Do you have a lot of small riel? Bring a lot of small riel." 3000 - 5000 as we passed through various stages of the road safety test, depending on your rank/importance/whether you issued the sticker or not.

The road tax for motos has been suspended as of 2016. I was told the road tax for two or more axle vehicles runs Oct. to Sept. You wrote its Aug. to Sept. Am I misinformed?
Like OP wrote. It's hard to keep up.

fleecing starts when you go to dept of transport to do road tax or what ever "license", then you will need a host of other documents that needs more money to obtain, and the best past is, after you gotten all those documents they dont even bother to look at them and expect another "payment" to rubber stamp it, that is fleecing brohanno wrote:Most countries I know have some sort of road tax, where exactly does the fleecing part come in?bolueeleh wrote:nice, cambodia becoming more n more like vietnam, where they try and try, more and more ways to fleece you

I've been getting my "license" for the past 7 years and cannot say that I have experienced any of the above..bolueeleh wrote:fleecing starts when you go to dept of transport to do road tax or what ever "license", then you will need a host of other documents that needs more money to obtain, and the best past is, after you gotten all those documents they dont even bother to look at them and expect another "payment" to rubber stamp it, that is fleecing brohanno wrote:Most countries I know have some sort of road tax, where exactly does the fleecing part come in?bolueeleh wrote:nice, cambodia becoming more n more like vietnam, where they try and try, more and more ways to fleece you
