PP is fucked and is going to be worse than any Asian city as a mass transit sky train like Bangkok would never happen
all they can do ( and what they are trying to do) is build satellite cites outside an hope people move there rather than in the city
That's already happening. It's not only me that lives in the city and in the outer area [ Takhmao ] but the shophouse beside me and two accross the road from me are shophouses where the Cambodian owners also only stay in on the weekends and live somewhere else.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Re: Cambodia's future transportation
I started my move out of PP in 2005 knowing it would soon become a traffic clusterfuck which it definitely is today.
However now that I have kids I kknow that in less than 10 years, i will need to have a base in PP again. I can forsee buying a condo with parking near pochentong which would be convenient to avoid transit coming and going to our main residence in SHV and more importantly there will surely be a highway or train link going downtown where lycee Descartes is located.

Those are cool vehicles, we need to encourage people to replace more personal cars and motorcycles with smaller and safer urban vehicles like these.phuketrichard wrote:

Don't forget the plane noise. That's only going to get worse. I can't believe they developed all those places for the wealthy on a flight path. Apparently they do have triple glazing if you want to fit it.Barang_doa_slae wrote:I started my move out of PP in 2005 knowing it would soon become a traffic clusterfuck which it definitely is today.

As for triple glazing, it is still very expensive here and may remain so since their only interest is for noise reduction and not for thermal isolation like in colder climates. Before double or triple glazing, one must look for quality airtight windows, way more expensive than what is usually fitted. One a recent project choosing these for a 1000 square meters appartment building saw the windows cost jump from 10k$ to 40k$.

I felt like we don't talk much about metro. I really want to have metro in the city. Yes, Metro is really expensive and the government might not be able to afford to make it available in the country. However, what if there are oversea companies who want to invest in public transportation in Cambodia.
I heard people said that, metro or underground train can't be built in Cambodia, due to the unorganized buildings or something. I might be wrong.

Re: Cambodia's future transportation
light rail, above ground, thats the only way to go, other then that, i dont think any private company would invest so much money into an expensive system when anytime HE feels like it can take it away, like the tolls on road number 4Samouth wrote:I felt like we don't talk much about metro.
