New Fire Trucks Arrive in Sihanoukville
One hundred and thirteen fire trucks arrived at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port yesterday, according to officials, who said the Japanese-made Izuzu-brand vehicles will increase the capacity of provincial fire departments across the Kingdom.

Brigadier General Net Vantha, the director of the Interior Ministry’s municipal fire police department, said the trucks had been purchased from China and will be transported to Phnom Penh’s Diamond Island until they are dispatched to their assigned provinces.

While every province will receive a share of the trucks, 13 will be kept in reserve at the Ministry of Interior, Gen. Vantha said, adding that despite having the new trucks, it will still be vital for citizens to practice routine fire safety.

A total of 362 fires have been recorded across the Kingdom so far this year, 14 more than in the same period last year, causing the destruction of 600 houses and 1,220 market stalls. This year fires have caused 13 deaths and eight injuries, Gen. Vantha added.

Earlier this year, Interior Minister Sar Kheng announced that he had asked the government to buy 200 fire trucks between this year and next...

CD Quoted 14 trucks to remain in Phnom Penh

Fleet of More than 100 Fire Trucks Arrive from China

by Phan Soumy | May 12, 2016

The first tranche of fire trucks headed to Cambodia in a deal the government struck with China last year to furnish the country with fire-fighting vehicles for the provinces arrived on Wednesday, the head of the national police force’s fire department said.

Interior Minister Sar Kheng announced the deal for 200 trucks in February and said it would nearly double the current fleet of 210 vehicles, mainly to bolster the severely underserved provinces.

Fire department chief Neth Vantha said the first shipment of 113 trucks arrived from China on Wednesday at the Siha-noukville port. “Those fire trucks will be distributed to some districts in each province throughout the country,” he said.

According to Mr. Vantha’s breakdown, the provinces would be receiving between two and six of the Isuzu trucks each, with the remaining 14 to stay in Phnom Penh.

Its nice to have new pumper trucks, but if the fire fighters don't have the proper "turn out" gear and fog/semi fog applicators they are just nice shiny trucks to ride around in. They should have bought 50 trucks and spent the rest of the money on equipment like coats, hats, boots, SCBAs, hoses, applicators and proper training. I wonder who stuffed money in their pockets on this deal? And how about paying the firemen a decent wage so they don't have to work a second job?

I'm definitely going to have to agree with Sailorman on that.

Agree to a point, but the last sentence should read, "And how about paying the firemen a decent wage so they don't have to blackmail the homeowner into paying before they start pumping water on the fire".

agree, never seen one.
so do the trucks hold water?
or do they just do the "pass the bucket and throw on the fire"

Scenerio;

Call to fire dept, "help, there is a fire in my home at...."
response; "OK, please tell is how much ur willing to pay for us to respond and put it out"
