Water is carried on the truck and capacity varies with the model. I think this one holds 5500 litres.

There are fire hydrants around the place. Here's one. Follow the google streetview link below to see for yourself.

With the very low water pressure that we have had for the last six months, the fire engines will be sucking all the water out of the pipes until they only suck air, so fire hydrants are not going to be of much use.

No low water pressure in the capital either. Anyway, the fire service here is just another police department. They need new vehicles, but they also need to sort a few substations out around the city. And hurry the fuck up about it.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

New Fire Trucks Head to Provinces
Khmer Times/Ros Chanveasna
Thursday, 26 May 2016

More than 100 new fire engines were provided to provincial police stations across the Kingdom in an effort to bolster the country’s firefighting capacity, Interior Minister Sar Kheng announced yesterday.

Speaking in front of hundreds of police officers during a handover ceremony at the Interior Ministry yesterday, Mr. Kheng said the new Japanese-made Isuzu-brand vehicles, each with 6,000 liters of water-carrying capacity, would improve provincial fire departments across the Kingdom.

“Actually, as per the plan, we planned to purchase 200 trucks, which we had asked the government to buy this year and next,” Mr. Kheng said, adding that discussions over the purchase of the remaining 90 trucks would be underway soon.
“We will work with the Economic and Finance Ministry about the ability to budget and purchase more trucks,” he said.

Brigadier General Net Vantha, director of the Interior Ministry’s municipal fire police department, told Khmer Times that the government will give a share of the trucks to each province throughout the Kingdom, except Phnom Penh, which he said has enough trucks...

Sailorman wrote:Its nice to have new pumper trucks, but if the fire fighters don't have the proper "turn out" gear and fog/semi fog applicators they are just nice shiny trucks to ride around in. They should have bought 50 trucks and spent the rest of the money on equipment like coats, hats, boots, SCBAs, hoses, applicators and proper training. I wonder who stuffed money in their pockets on this deal? And how about paying the firemen a decent wage so they don't have to work a second job?

I'm definitely going to have to agree with Sailorman on that.
Agree to a point, but the last sentence should read, "And how about paying the firemen a decent wage so they don't have to blackmail the homeowner into paying before they start pumping water on the fire".
I think I would have gone with, "And how about paying the firemen a decent wage so the job doesn't attract a bunch of corrupt, heartless extortionists instead of people who want to be firefighters."
