Northern Ireland terror threat level raised in Britain

This popped up on my Twitter account from BBC.

Northern Ireland terror threat level raised in Britain

The threat level from Northern Ireland-related terrorism in Britain has been raised from moderate to substantial - meaning an attack is "a strong possibility".
Home Secretary Theresa May said the level, which applies to England, Scotland and Wales, "reflects the continuing threat from dissident republican activity".
The threat level from Northern Ireland-related terrorism in Northern Ireland remains at severe, meaning an attack is "highly likely".
At Easter the New IRA, the group responsible for the murder of prison officer Adrian Ismay in March, warned that its members were "determined to take the war to the age-old enemy of our nation".
The threat level for Northern Ireland-related terrorism was raised from moderate to substantial in 2010, then reduced back to moderate in 2012.

Not been following what's been happening recently, but it seems the problem of Northern Ireland won't go away. I would presume it may be because their is still seen to be inequality happening and possibly even brutality occurring by one religious group to another. Either that or it's just some Irish nutters.

Which ever way, it's shit news.

Nope. Not even close. Conflict has been for centuries. Different groups, ethnicities, cultures. Northern Ireland will have peace when the IRA decides that violence isn't the answer and peacefully coexists with the British.

After 168 Years, Potato Famine Mystery Solved - May 21, 2013 By Barbara Maranzani

An international team of scientists has finally solved one of history’s greatest mysteries: What caused the devastating Irish potato famine of 1845? The research team, which published its findings in the journal eLife this week, used DNA sequencing of plant specimens dating from the mid-19th century to identify the pathogen that led to the death of nearly 1 million people and the mass emigration of another 2 million from Ireland by 1855.

....absentee British landlords evicted thousands of starving peasants when they were unable to pay rent; and a series of workhouses and charity homes established to care for the most vulnerable were poorly managed, becoming squalid centers of disease and death. By 1851 1 million Irish—nearly one-eight of the population—were dead from starvation or disease. Emigration from the country, which had steadily increased in the years leading up to the famine, ballooned, and by 1855 2 million people had fled, swelling the immigrant Irish populations of Canada, the United States, Australia and elsewhere. Even today, more than 150 years later, Ireland’s population has still not recovered its pre-famine level. Those that stayed behind, haunted by their country’s suffering, would form the basis of an Irish independence movement that continued into the 20th century.

It's not as simple as that, if the Brits were to pull out there would be more than a little trouble with the hundreds of thousands of Unionists who remained there.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I'm not sure PIRA or whatever the latest organisation is a real threat.
In this day and age these guys can't move without being watched and monitored.
