The Cost of Living in Phnom Penh on the Cheap (expatriate blog)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. The Cost of Living in Phnom Penh on the Cheap (expatriate blog)

Post by General Mackevili »

A blog post from a married couple living in Phnom Penh:

"This is a guest post from Jen Joslin, best known for her blog http://www.twocantravel.com. She lives in Phnom Penh, Cambodia with her husband, stand-up comedian Stevo Joslin. They have been living and traveling in Asia together since 2011, and have been living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia since 2015. Jen works as a first grade teacher at a small international school. Gentrification... Yeah, saw that blog entry in my Facebook feed a few days ago but couldn't bring myself click on it as I knew it would likely annoy me. I can see the charm and confort that all these coffee shops and fast food chains bring to some, but they're certainly not attracting the kind of people I find interesting. Not talking about them in particular, but more generally speaking.

$35000; life on the cheap? If you can't live like a king here for half of that money, you're a total idiot. Anyway, life is not an economy run.

...Combined they earn less than $35,000 USD per year,
:please:
$3,000/month for two is not exactly living on the cheap
