Thai epidemic of "window-falling" continues...

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Thai epidemic of "window-falling" continues...

Post by Anchor Moy »

Why is this such a typically Thai phenomenon ? Do they have worse windows and balconies than elsewhere in the world ?
A man of Finland nationality fell from the third floor window of his hotel room near Walking Street, Pattaya.

At 3:30am, 28th April, 30 year old tourist from Finland, Mr. Jerry Soderholm fell out of his third floor window of his hotel room, room #103. His hotel was located at Soi Diamond near Walking Street, South Pattaya.

Rescue workers found him with injuries to his head, bleeding profusely, and had many bruises on his entire body. They performed first aid before transporting him to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.

The caretaker of the hotel says that Mr. Soderholm was sitting at the window smoking, when he must have slipped and fell out of the window onto the ground.

RIP

But seriously! It is not that hard to secure a window properly, it seems I can hold a good load of diarrhea between my butt cheeks before a window or pane of glass would fall out between them! Sorry - they forgot to adhere to the building code! Oh yes, can someone find that for me?

I feel sorry to the family etc. it is SEA - don't lean against windows - of any height.... apologies may he RIP

Sincere Condolences

How to "fall out of a window" in Thailand, a brief guide:

1. Move to Thailand
2. Rent room in a condo
3. Spend all your money on drugs, booze and hookers (any combination thereof)
4. Borrow money from a nice Russian gentleman to pay for more drugs, booze, and hookers
5. Accidentally forget to pay nice Russian gentleman back
6. "Fall out of a window"

Thais don't do defenestration when you fuck them over. They're an artistic people and prefer to do the work themselves with knives, swords and machetes, etc. Russians are more pragmatic, they need visas, so it has to look like an "accident".

Why do you say Russians?

This has been going on in Thailand well before the Russian invasion.

I agree with your list but would swap Russians for Thais.

It's Russians. It has always been Russians hurling people out of windows here. For over 30 years of creative defenestration.

Oh and try finding a Thai who will lend so much as one baht to a broke ass foreigner... it would be like seeking out unicorn poo. Thais don't take crazy risks with their cash.
