A couple years ago I was talking to the US Navy Seabee's that were in town to drill wells for the schools and villages. They said that there was a lot of arsenic in the wells they drilled and they had to go deep to find good water.

gavinbrisbane wrote:Yes, seems like the best solution, i.e. to boil the water off - I have done that in Chiangmai, Phuket and other parts of the world - does it get rid of arsenic? mmmm I guess you need something like a still? heats cools through coils etc? Just a guess...Even one of those "instant gas heaters" would do it, so what about the people already sick?

I have been drinking distilled water from my water distiller [ as shown in photo ] for over 16 years, and go through about 8 litres a week I have several in OZ and two here in Cambodia, Once you have used a distiller and seen the residue left over after the water has been distilled it makes you realise what you have been drinking. Although I have to admit the water from the taps in PP is pretty clean.

It would be very easy to build a ''boiler ''of stainless steel , where the steam goes into a s/steel coil inside another container of water which condences the steam into your drinkable water. The ''boiler could be heated by a charcoal fire underneath it.

My girl's been vomiting for over week, barely able to hold any food down, since returning from the province. Went to see Dr. Scott 2 days ago (my insistence), still vomiting every time having food or drink. Blood tests show H. Pylori, no increase in diff, but increase ESR and CRP (non-specific).

She's never been so sick to skip work. Maybe there's something going around? Didn't check Vit. A, maybe I should suggest?

Besides Dr Scott? I am not sure what that means? H. Pylori - never head of it! ESR? CRP.. Is that in connection to OMG?

Thanks Fella's --- it is appreciated, and I would always do the same for anyone here..... Am stressed to buggery!

No water of any quality should lead to disease outbreaks. Isn't that what's being discussed here? Arsenic CAN be removed and there are NGOs doing that stuff, Don't ask me to name them,,,, I forget.

I am not sure about this....

In the last few months ALL my GF's family have been getting very ill, to the point they had to go to Vietnam for treatment just in this last week gone. They were there for 4 or 5 days.

They live in SVAY Rieng Province.

All their water comes from a well (as many people's probably do?) however it has been 'one by one' my Gf's family have been getting very ill, until last week, everyone was very very sick and had to be transported across the border. The only common denominator I can find is due to the drought and water/salinity/arsenic etc perhaps by low water levels in their well? I am not sure - I am not there....

Has anyone else experienced this in the past few months or ever? My Gf's brother was only in intensive care (whatever that is??) in PP or SR 2 - 3 weeks ago..... I can't remember what the blood tests results were, but I can find out. I do remember that some kind of severe vitamin deficiency, (A, B, D, - I don't know) was severely low - he was having repetitive seizures etc. and was in hospital for over a week - 10 days in fact. He was just released from hospital and about a week later everyone else was ill.

Does arsenic cause any kind of vitamin deficiency over time? Can it do that? I am at a loss here.

I have offered to get their water tested - but she (my Gf) says "it's all ok". --- They have also started losing chickens in the past few days as well? No other livestock that I know of has been affected, as yet. mmmmm, seems suss.....

It just seems strange the whole family 'clan' went down very quickly. We are all pretty concerned.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What about the neighbours and the other families in the same village ? If it's the water at fault, that should affect everyone that are using wells from the same water table surely ?

I'd personally start to worry when the cow starts getting sick.
