Teaching jobs

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Cheap way to see the country, misplaced romanticism. I think a lot of Europeans and Americans are beginning to want something else apart from their own culture, and are perhaps travelling more than their parents.

The relatively low COL, virtually nobody checks qualifications or criminal records also helps the dodgy ones as the kIngdom's reputation for 'meh factor' grows.

Several dodgy organisations use voluntourism, we've had the Mormons (or 7th Day Adventists, I don't remember) offering free English (spiced with some spiritual counselling, I think) lessons to urban Khmers who can afford ACE (facepalm)

Definitely way more young people arriving than 10 years ago, way more young women and couples with kids as well.

One thing is that most recruiters either don't know the difference between a native speaker, or don't care. If you are white, they assume that you're a native speaker.

I worked with one Spanish guy, I literally couldn't understand a word he said. After a few months I could understand maybe 20%. Obviously not all Spaniards are the same, but is shows up teh recruiting problem.
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right? ;)
