Cost of Living in Phnom Penh
Cost of Living in Phnom Penh
I'm curious about monthly expenses. Rent, food, utility's, phone. I'm hoping to find a place in the range of 250-300 for rent. But unsure of the others. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Cost of living
Where are you planning to live ? Prices vary. In general, life is more expensive in PP - COL is higher and there's more to spend your money on.

Re: Cost of living
How much will you use the a/c? Electricity is expensive.
Eat like a Westerner or like a local? The latter is much cheaper...
And so on.
The general rule is people's expenditure expands to accommodate their earnings. Live like a peasant or live like a lord. It's up to you.

Re: Cost of living
I plan to live in PP eat locally. i prefer an area with less expats the better not into partying all the time.i would like to be close to a market. I'm fine with eating some sort of meat and rice everyday, and fruit. For transportation I plan on getting a bicycle. Do I need 3G on a phone or is wifi everywhere?
Re: Cost of living
I would only use a/c at night while sleeping. thanks guys I know it's a lot of ? But moving to a different country I want as much info before hand as possible lol I like to have everything in order.. Somewhat
Re: Cost of living
Wifi is everywhere coffee is sold. The coffee is far more expensive than the 3g/4g service.
Absolute minimums, unless you're some kind of ascetic who likes being uncomfortable and bored:
Monthlies:
Rent 100
Utilities 30
3g/4g 5
Weeklies:
Household /groceries 50
Entertainment 50
Dailies:
Bicycle parking 500r x number of times you park somewhere
Breakfast 6,000r
Lunch 10,000r
Dinner 10,000r
Could eat cheaper, but if you want any kind of variety, be prepared to pay more/travel further
To know any other costs, kinda need to know what you're going to 'do' here.

Re: Cost of living
I'll be teaching. So I figure 1000 a month plus savings. I'll be picking up a moto from Vietnam and driving back. So I plan on taking some trips around the country side. I really want to see how the Khmer people live in the country. And I love to fish.
