Re: What Music Are You Playing Tonight?
I saw them at an all nighter club in london in 1971, a place called the temple it was a of hippie dive. They were given strange looks when they came on stage but soon got the crowd on their side with a version of "Knights in white satin" complete with an electric violin soloDario wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 6:50 amBeen a Slade fan for half my life. Don't like their later output, love everything from "Play it loud" to "Slayed"Username Taken wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 5:12 pm Set of 6 - Slade (13th June 1972)
Tracklisting - Hear Me Calling/Look Wot You Dun/Darling Be Home Soon/Coz I Luv You/Get Down With It/Born To Be Wild.
On review, this line
Hear Me Calling/Look Wot You Dun/Darling Be Home Soon/Coz I Luv You/Get Down With It/Born To Be Wild
Does it occur to anyone else that those are some abuser's lines?
Janis did that tune too
From Play it Loud, their second album, & imho their best
but that's just me, soon after they changed their style/image from mods to glam rockers

WOW good find it never occurred to me to see if they had done it before, I always assumed it was a one off that night to get the hippies on boardUsername Taken wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 2:41 pmNever heard it before. Re: What Music Are You Playing Tonight?
When they done the song at the Temple obviously there was no orchestra, just the four of them. The violin solo I think was the bass player. It was mad, lots of feedback, it certainly got us hippies on board. Up untill then Slade were viewed as a skin head band. Soon after they became very big with all those singles.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
