Always "hope" but never "expect".

Memories..
I once worked on a trawler out of Darwin. The skipper would crank this up every time we sailed out of port.
It really suited the mood when heading out into the Big Clean Blue. Leaving it all behind.

He played it when we came back in as well - everybody relishing the thought of a bit of real dirty old town once again.

Funny how songs can take you back to a moment in time... I first heard this song on the way into town one night in Aberdeen, It was my first trip there
and this song brings back fond memories..
I Can imagine it would have been a good song to listen heading out into the gulf off Darwin as well. :thumb:

'Funny, GB... my skipper was an Xth generation fisherman from Hull. that is where he picked up this song.
Aberdeen is a fair bit further north than Hull - but they are both old hardcore North Sea fishing ports. since eternity.
- since "when ships were wood and men were iron" as he would roar. tremble

You and my old skipper would have both been breathing the same North Sea salt-laden wild sea air when you first heard Dirty Old Town. How's that?? - the real deal. well done.

Flock, he had some tales to tell, from that dread-filled sea.
