Re: Sihanoukville: Murray John Gough, Australian, 52 YO, Found Dead In Guest House Room
If I lived in PP I would have been brain dead by sheer boredom a long time back! That, or resorted to drink or drugs through the same, including the lack of being able to drive or walk a short distance to somewhere not developed and quiet.
How many KM out of PP city would you have to travel to actually see something natural and beautiful and costs nothing??
Anyways, RIP the deceased!

Murray is my friend from Australia. He was a really good guy with a gentle heart of gold who was coming to Cambodia to help with a project in one of the villages in Siem Reap and has traveled to Cambodia several times before. This is really sad news, his family informed me today and if anyone has information on the processes here following the death of a foreigner can you please let me know. The embassy is in contact with the family but as I'm in Phnom Penh i'm available to help out. Would they let me view the body?

Less than a kilometer behind my place and it's rural. Crops growing, coconut trees, a small stream, chickens and pigs, etc.

Aray Ksat is a 500rl ferry ride from Naga. Rent a bicycle and go explore. Silk island is a little further but still reachable by bicycle and had some great single track. Anlong Jen island is out past Ta Khmao but still a reasonably short distance.Jamie_Lambo wrote:care to share?rick_o'shea wrote:A lot less than you think.Fourkinnel wrote: How many KM out of PP city would you have to travel to actually see something natural and beautiful and costs nothing?
If you like cycling further, head out down highway 6 for 10 km and then left onto the toll road that joins NH5 and NH6 past the golf course. The loop back to PP down NH5 is 40km total.
Phnom Baset is reachable by MTB and has some great riding too.
If you like clocking up kms, the views from NH6 35km from PP to Skun are quite pretty and the road is grade A, but that's a 120km round trip from jap bridge.

in SHV - Kbal Chhay Waterfalls is only 15km (20km via Otres) and that kind of trumps all of what you mentioned tbh (costs $1), Otres is 8km (cost $0), Prek Treng beach is only 10km (cost $0), if youre talking boat trips Koh Ta Kiev is 20km, Koh Rong Samloem is 25km although im not sure on the current prices i know in the lower season they were advertising the slow boat for $1-5, high season is probably morerick_o'shea wrote:Aray Ksat is a 500rl ferry ride from Naga. I guess it depends on what you want to do. If I was forced to live in Sinville I wouldn't be sitting on the beaches much!
