One arrestee said "Thank God I'm being sent to a Chinese prison because even that has to be better than living in fucking Poi Pet!" Okay, no one was really quoted as saying that, but they were probably thinking it.
Cambodia Arrests 38 Chinese Citizens Sought by Beijing
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — Mar 3, 2016

Thirty-eight Chinese wanted by authorities in their home country are facing deportation after being arrested at a casino in Cambodia's western border town of Poipet, police said Thursday.

Cambodian Deputy National Police Chief Gen. Chhay Sinarith said Chinese police took part in rounding up 105 Chinese citizens Wednesday at the Golden Crown Casino's hotel, releasing 67 after confirming they were not on wanted lists.

Police said the people arrested are suspected of involvement in scams carried out against Chinese citizens over Internet phone services. They were taken to the capital, Phnom Penh, and will be deported to China when the Interior Ministry issues its approval, Chhay Sinarith said.

In November, a raid in the southern province of Preah Sihanouk netted 166 Chinese citizens suspected of carrying out similar activities.

Chhay Sinarith said more than 1,000 Chinese have been arrested and deported in the past six years, most of them for fraud or extortion using the Internet.

According to that article, yes. Those 38 were on a list of Chinese citizens wanted by the Chinese authorities in Beijing for phone scams.

Those 38 guys mustn't have known that technically, if not officially, Cambodia is nothing else but a small derelict Chinese province, only allowed pretend autonomy as long as there are natural resources to be pillaged, sorry I meant traded by the good people in power.

I wonder what the 60+ young Chinese are doing at the new (empty) Casino at the equally empty Emario Marina property in Sihanoukville. How soon do we see a raid there?

Pretty soon I hope, But I don't fancy their chances once they are extradited! Probably 10 years hard labour if they are lucky! Even a tad worse than Poipet, but only a tad!
