SIM card for cell phone. Suggestions?

its not a matter of winning and losing. There are literally at least 10 phone shops within my walking distance and the requirement remain unchanged. Anyway, lets agree to disagree.

Nothing to disagree on.

I believe that all the shops within walking distance from your home require ID.

The random ones I've always managed to stumble upon don't.

Ok, I missed that part. I misunderstood your argument was that you can buy Cellcard sim anywhere with no id.

Yeah, I also had places that absolutely wouldn't budge on the policy.

I just wanted to point it out because many people like to have phones that aren't in their name.

Cellcard requires an ID card for locals and a passport for expats to buy a SIM - obviously you'll find a lax seller somewhere for the exception to the rule. They include free on-network calls per month. Their 3G constantly drops out and is slow, around the Sovanna area we get Edge but almost no 3G.

I've had excellent 3G coverage in Phnom Penh with CellCard for many years.

I do make sure I have a Rom that is specifically for Cambodia/Thailand's networks though. (Meaning a modem that's for these countries only.)

Ah! Here's the missing ingredient. Would you expect the Huawei modems sold in the malls to be localised?

They all seem to work, but I know they vary from region to region. I can only assume they aren't all the same.

Ah, so I started an unneccessary thread. Instead, I'll join this one if it remains civil.

Mobitel has a reputation of the best signal (don't know about outside of city coverage) . But don't they gave their vendors strictly enforce ID? Looking for a reliable, spam-free, good value mobile service provider that hasn't been oversubscribed. Private would be a plus.
