GPS Tracking services in PP needed

Post by kgbagent »

I think its time that I got a GPS tracking solution for my bike after a mate got his new bike stolen in broad nightlight on St51 recently.

Anybody use these GPS services and can you recommend anyone / costs / etc

Cheers

The ones I've seen are gps that uses a sim card and periodically sends its location by SMS to phone once activated
eBay,has thousands of different models.
Why not just buy a theft alarm with built in gps tracking and remote control that will let you know if someone is messing with it.

Good to see someone getting it BEFORE their bike is stolen.

There is a Facebook page called CamTrack GPS Cambodia and they seem to offer just that.

No idea of the price, as they avoid that question it seems.

as i understand it there are not any true gps tracking systems in cam but they use gps phone signal so if your in a dead spot, or inside a building, or the service is out it won't work

best to be sensible with the bike and get either an alarm or lock it to something

the thief will always move on to an easier target instead of alerting people to his actions

As long as you have phone reception it will work. I got one from Khmer GPS on Norodom last year. It was very accurate, and would send location info if the bike was moved with the engine turned off. It did also give me a username to some Chinese tracking website with neat statistics available.

Went there last week, but didn't see anyone there, so I went to a GPS shop across the street from Mike's Burger. The tracking interface isn't as good as the khmer GPS one, it's usually around 20 meters off, and it doesn't send its location when the engine is off (on a ferry for example).

Both trackers are Chinese and can be bought cheap online, but they take care of the installation and subscription if you buy it here.

Edit: Prices were 70$ at Khmer GPS and 60$ at the other place. +1$ per month for the sim card

Well after some research I finally went here http://www.khmer-gps.com/en/

Map here https://www.google.com/maps/place/Khmer ... d?hl=en-US

For $70 I got the K5 installed very well by a guy with good English in about 40 mins

The website and app work very well and so far it works a treat - even the vibration alert. Only ongoing cost is topping up the sim card for sending text messages. Remote ignition locking works well.
