North Bright American School (NAS) Might be the Sketchiest School in Cambodia [Warning To Female Teachers]

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Just like underage prostitution, I think that the cases of Bauk are even greater nowadays. Mainly due to the huge injection of cash into the 'economy' since the late 00's.
It sometimes seems that if you run a successful business in Cambodia some of the money ends up going towards rape in one form or another.

@annon; I agree with most of what you have to say about forums but as for the big joke in Cambo, that's the K4** site. I personally started reading it because I was looking for furniture. lol, and started hoping to learn more about the reasons why Cambodia is like it is. Unfortunately, the nature of forums seems to be less about information dispersal/ exchange and more about ego clashes. It's still worth checking them out for the odd bit of history/ info. Like your above post. Backs up my own info. Just be selective in your reading as elsewhere on the inet.
Bauk (which means addition) is probably more widespread now due to due availibility of porn, and it's somewhat of a cultural thing due to how khmers view prostitutes. I don't see how cash has anything to due with it. And I'm fairly certain underage prostitution had dropped considerably, not the opposite.

Does it cost money to set up such establishments? Do punters need cash to use their 'facilities'? Do you hate the idea?
There are a lot of KTVs around. They don't have windows, so you just assume that they are all underage rape centers?

You lost me with the T Shirt thing, was that an attempt at humor?
And they have doors but he's never bothered to go in, too busy writing half assed posts. Just proves that 'thinking' a lot doesn't necessarily make you knowledgeable.

I decided I find the whole thing, the whole idea of forums kind of juvenile unless you have cancer and need intense emotional support or something. I'm thankful to those who brought this issue to light and enjoyed venting some repressed stuff and some of the banter but it's already pretty much tired and I have things in life to do. No offense.

Well ok, one last thing. For anybody who is an active member (aside from beard dude, he seems pretty mod cool and responsible and that this might be something that takes up 80% of his day but for some unfathomable reason I feel ok with that) the rest of you... what is the appeal? Honestly? I get Reddit because it's like an encyclopedia of the underworld and so much more, but after making the front page 2 times I realized how much time it was sucking out of my life so I just stopped. Is it addicting? Do you find the things written here fascinating on a daily basis to the point that anyone would take the time to have over 1,000 comments? I think everyone knows this site has the longstanding reputation of being a joke, which in Phnom Penh is ummm... well let's just say that's almost award worthy, but obviously not enough that people don't disown it and do stay very active users. I'm curious from the perspective of exploring another subculture that's really strange to me. Ae you really lonely? (To everyone, not pointing fingers at you Spongebob.gif)
you find the idea of forums juvenile and for lonely people yet pride yourself in your reddit addiction??

Lol  Binghams an establishment supporter who refuses to believe whats in front of his own eyes unless it's backed- up by an embassy or a government. What's your excuse? Hard core porn has been available for many years in Cambodia.

The point is that I realized how much it was consuming my time, wasteful, and that I realized that and stopped because it was addicting and I was being stupid for caring about ridiculous points on the internet that meant nothing. Jesus. You obviously care because nobody else brought it up. Arguing with you is like arguing with a christian extremist.
