Re: What is it about Siem Reap ...
i have lived in siem reap for about 10 years, for me its a lovely place to live, also lived part time in pp,for about 2 years.
if you love going out to girly bars than forget siem reap but i got over that addiction many many years ago, most of my friends are khmers, but i have many long time expat friends also, its a safe place to live,no hassles and easy.pub street for me is for tourists i have not ventured there for many years,as with all places you live its what you make out of it,for me i love fishing/camping out, boats, small villages and siem reap is ideal for this, currently building a floating home on the lake so plan more time just relaxing and fishing

Siem Reap has it's fair share of riff-raff, a certain gentleman of your acquaintance topping the list at the moment.TheGrinchSR wrote:It's only tourists who see "relentless selling and touts". The town is a small place... the locals quickly come to know that you're local and none of them bother you. None of the SR expat crowd spends any real time on Pub Street either... that's where the tourists go. It's a city with tons of great places to eat, pubs to hang out in and interesting people to meet but it takes more than a fleeting visit to work any of that out. Which is good, it keeps the riff-raff in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville where they belong.
The most boring man in the World. Ever!
