Thailands NEW METV

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

I guess that's to stop the Thai based teachers doing visa runs.

Lol. I give it a week and then the visa agents will have done a deal with someone at the Thai embassy and all that need for proof will magically disappear. Just like the ongoing tickets were never needed to get a tourist visa before. As long as you have a 1 year Cambo visa in your passport... I reckon this will be a piece of piss.

i doubt it, first u would need a job and the $8,000 in the bank ( how many teachers in Thailand or Cambodia make that much less save it)

The thai embassy in PP is one of the worst to get visas.

IF what ur saying is the case, than all all the teachers ( or anyone ) in Thailand need do is get a year Cambodian visa ( easy as cake for under $300)
and than apply for this new 6 month visa.

Even getting my Cambodian gf a Non B visa in PP ( she has a job an full wp for Thailand) it was a pain in the ass an needed tons of paperwork and still all they would issue was a single entry non b visa and this is using an agent!!

There cracking down here on everything

red stamps are issued by the embassy not at immigration and let the person know that that embassy will not issue him/her another visa.
does not mean a person cannot go to a different embassy to get a visa

All these new rules/enforcement of old laws are being put in place cause of people like ur friend that abused the system for so many years

Not saying anything against him, but this is why they are cracking down.

Looks like there will now only be 2 Thai tourist Visas you can apply for..
single entry (valid for 3months) that lasts 60days
multi entry (valid for 6months) that lasts for 60days each visit

Applying for the multi entry visa you must provide...
Passport with 6 months validity
You can only apply for the visa in your home country (unless you have evidence of permanent residence in the country you are applying for the visa)
Current bank statements with proof of 200,000baht
Letter confirming employment
Proof of flights
Proof of accommodation
Cost of Visa = £90

Load of bollocks if you ask me, just making it even harder for people to get their visas, i think the worst thing is that you can only apply for your multi entry visa from your home country

So the double/triple entry tourist visa no longer available? If this is so, Thailand has once again shot itself in the foot regarding tourism! The new METV is such a bastard to get with those requirements (if indeed they keep them strict) that folk will just do 60 days (single ent) which is still easy to get ??? and go spend somewhere else, such as here!
