Reliable Business Internet In Phnom Penh?

Post by dgfstyle »

Greetings all,

I work in IT, am the husband of a Khmer lady, and we’re considering relocating to PP for a while. Specifically my work entails remotely controlling computers that are located in North America, and providing support via VOIP.

My concern is that the internet there will not be fast or reliable enough, and finding feedback has been a bit tough so far.
Do you think Cambodia has an ISP that has sufficient speed/latency (10mb+), very high uptime (absolutely has to be reliable), and isn't something crazy like $500 per month?

Metfone is the one ISP I’ve found that seems to fit the bill but I don't know much about them

Any other things to be concerned about, such as rolling blackouts?

Any feedback you could provide would be appreciated!

I heard many good things about Ezecom, but never used them. I'm happy, well, most of the time, with Digi.

1M
had 3 cable cuts this last month, but not their fault.
another reliable method is to have a load balancing router with 2 ISP connected.
you may have to bring that router with you to get a decent price.
if you brought a suitcase full of them i bet you could profit.

Here in Snookyville, I used three different internet companies in four years and they were all trash. I now have Ezecom and love it. Problems are fixed right away, its fast and the regional manager is a great guy. (Toni.)

Thanks for the responses guys....been trying to post for several days but was having some trouble getting on the site.
Mind if I ask what the cuts were due to w/ Ezecom? Also if you could post a result from speedtest.net that would be great.

I was more curious about latency than speed, and not sure what "spec" would be for that, but thanks anyway.
